Nathalie Emmanuel

 Nathalie Joanne Emmanuel(born 2 March 1989) is an English actress. Emmanuel began her acting career in theatre in the mid 1990s and was cast in various West End productions such as the musical The Lion King. Her birthplace was Southend-on-Sea in Essex, England, on March 2, 1989. Her mother is Dominican as is her father, who is of half-Saint Lucian and half English descent. She has an older sister. Emmanuel remembers that her mom first became aware of her passion and desire to be an actress during Emmanuel's attendance at the independent St Hilda's School, which closed in 2014, and then the Westcliff High School for Girls grammar school. She explained that she first realized her passion for acting at the age of three years old. Her mother then encouraged her to take singing, dancing, and acting classes. In the West End production of The Lion King Young Nala played the character as Young Nala. The following year she was made a part in Game of Thrones as Missandei Daenerys Targaryen's interpreter. She told Jimmy Kimmel that she learned about the role during her work as an assistant in an apparel store. Emmanuel was elevated to a regular cast member of the show in 2015. Missandei was the only prominent character who was female of color in the show. And her death scene, which occurred when she was bound was not well-liked by fans who viewed it as an instance of fridging , and also evoked an image of slavery.Emmanuel was later quoted by The Guardian: The reaction to the death of Missandei was so massive because she was not the only person. I think a lot of people who felt disenfranchised or marginalized had connected with her, or felt that she represented them particularly women of colour. It was difficult for many to watch her leave, especially when it happened in the way that she did. They're going after the only woman of color.
